Never before have I seen a musician so completely blow away their own world record of hilarious awfulness. Mad props dawg, you set the new standard with this one DeAndre. You have succeeded in looking like a retard in comparison to your own reputation.
If you think about it, this is an enlightening if-slightly-embarrassing commentary on anime fandom in America actually. Soulja Boy is 19 years old this month. He was 8 in ’98/’99 when 4Kids and Nintendo first brought Pokemon to our shores at the beginning of the Anime Bubble. The shows he haphazardly references in “Anime” and “Goku” (yes, the upcoming album has not one but TWO anime themed tracks) are mostly shows that were hyped and televised in syndication and on Adult Swim during the bubble: DBZ, Pokemon, Bebop, Inu Yasha.
Even though the active members of the fan community have pretty much moved on from all these shows, they continue to have a presence especially on the convention scene where a lot of dealers keep selling a lot of the same merchandise from these shows that was popular 10 years ago, and fans continue to cosplay the characters and seek these older shows out. Which is weird, because a lot of fans who attend cons these days, much like Soulja Boy, are on the younger-end of the spectrum age-wise and have had so much more thrown at them since then.
So yeah. People sometimes talk about “making anime mainstream again” and “bringing in new fans”? Rarely do we consider those mainstream fans are the Soulja Boys of the world.
What are Jubbz’s thoughts on these “songs”? I’d almost kill to hear his unfiltered reaction.
But i hate Soulja Boy’s music. His music is garbage. Pure shit.
I mean, think about it. Ice-T said Soulja Boy is killing Hip hop. I BELIEVE HIM.
Not too many people like rap, and more people within that spectrum despise Soulja Boy. And I can’t blame them at all really.
Soulja Boy sucks and that sound was really embarrassing to listen to to be honest.
oh. dear. god. no. just no.
thats it im abandoning anime
i could barely stomach the fat sweaty hairy otakus but now souja boy? gaaaaah >_< hes the cancer thats killing rap srsly. hes one of the reasons i became soured by rap music. luckily tho thanks to curz and dubzeh introducing me to pretty good/decent hip-hop i realized that i still like it. but gtfo souja boy quit ruining the things i like! >

Is it possible that this song is intended as some kind of ironic Dada satire of Kanye’s use of anime themes in his music?
This is why I hate Souja Boy.
And why I hate rap in general.

Oh my thoughts?
Well, I love rap music myself.

and theres only room for one anime theme rapper and eddie rath already claimed that titled >_>
at least kanye had the decency to not overblow anime related themes.
Interesting thought.

Can I sell this theory to anyone for $1?
Wait… isn’t the purpose of rap music for me to not be able to understand what they are saying?
This “Soldier Boy” has failed in that regard, and the lyrics are pretty bad.
