Soredemo Machi Wa Mawatteiru Episode 2: Sexual Harassment Court is Super Cool!

“In order for the Sabbath to heal one’s heart, one must work diligently on the other six days. Even God, our creator, is no exception” – Kirk H. Hill
We start off with Hotori daydreaming about Mr. Moriaki being a part of her detective novels, despite the fact that she doesn’t want to think about school at home.
This is cut short as Hotori’s little sister hits her on the head and tells her to play with her. Hotori sends her down to her brother who is playing his Gamecube. However, Hotori turns the system off before he saves and asks him to play “Mario Sisters” with his little sister.
The little brother, however is appalled that she turned off the game before he could save so he sparks a fight and causes the little sister to cry, thus giving Hotori a chance to leave the house.
She heads to Seaside where she and Tatsuno talk about her current feelings for Moriaki, detective shows, and the like, until Isohata makes Hotori go on an errand to get potatoes and onions from the market for curry.
So as Hotori rides freely through town on her motor scooter “Tetsuo” while singing the names of the veggies she needs, Matsuda, a police officer gets in her way as he tells her to stop. She runs right through him as she flies over him and he gets rammed in the nuts by her scooter.
As she makes her way back on her scooter, he gets up to say that she’s not allowed to ride the scooter because there’s no license, license plate, headlights, or blinker, and compares it to how you can have a burger without the meat and toppings. When she says that you can still eat the bun, he gets hella pissed. However, she agrees to walk since the stores right there.
When she walks into the market, she’s suddenly distracted by the owner Kikuchi, who is peddling his fresh carrots. This distraction causes her to forget she needed onions and instead, gets potatoes and carrots.
When she pays for the veggies, he also gives her a free carton of milk. However, when Matsuda & Kikuchi laugh as they comment that milk might help her grow, Hotori gets pissed and says that she should sue them for sexual harassment.
As she leaves, Matsuda reminds her not to ride the scooter back. However, because Hotori’s motto is “Fuck Tha Police”, she rides back to Seaside to spite him.
When she gets back to Seaside (late), she sees Sanada has arrived. When she goes to get a mug of milk, he asks if she’s trying to grow. Remembering the old geezers from the morning, she gets even more pissed going through with the sexual harassment case against Sanada as Tatsuno defends him and Sanada insists he meant her height. Isohata is in despair that she got carrots, and that she should develop her mind, instead of her boobs.
A while after, Hotori develops a new way of greeting guests, using what appears to be a mixed-up version of the Vulcan sign. Then, Tatsuno notices a sign on the door stating that no one should come in because they are in a meeting.
However, Arai, Kikuchi, and Yuuji (Sanada’s dad) is lead to Seaside after following arrows posted around town, which Hotori says was her elaborate plan to get more customers.
Despite this genius plan, Matsuda comes in to hand her the stack of arrows, stating she’s not allowed to do that. She’s furious about him always screwing around with her, but he feels the same way. Out of apology for Hotori’s actions, Tatsuno gives him a complimentary glass of water. Hotori gulps down the entire glass and tells him to chew on the ice cubes. Isohata & Tatsuno double team Hotori’s head with the serving plates as they tell her not to be rude as he leaves.
As she tries to call Matsuda a jerk, a group of middle schoolers heckle her for what they thought was an impression of Beat Takeshi. She chases them around for a half hour as Isohata cuts from her pay. After complaining about how none of Hotori’s ideas are working, they come up with a plan to make a new store sign.
Isohata recalls Hotori who she’s been giving free curry to for about 10 years from when she was a toddler to when she got to high school, when she made a deal that she’d forget about all the free curry if she worked at her store.
Overall, I’d say Elementary Hotori is the cutest.
After much hassle, Hotori & Tatsuno make the sign and string it up. However, when they all see it, it’s next to a sign for a dentist office sign, which turns the kanji from “Sophisticated” to “Childish”.
Hotori tries to saw off the dentist’s sign until the dentist comes out to see what Hotori is doing.
The episode ends as Hotori recalls what Tatsuno said earlier about how in detective anime, those voiced by big name VAs are often the criminal. After her brother and sister guess the criminal right because he’s pretending to be dead and it’s a rerun, Hotori is pissed and turns off the TV as chaos ensues.
Loving this show a lot, and this week was no different. As of now, it’s tied with Kuragehime as the best shows this season. Next episode, look forward to a certain new character from the ED to come along.

this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TQgcxWhkEI&feature=player_embedded – thats how matsuda must’ve felt being hit in the groin.
It’s as if a thousand spiked fists combined to crash into Matsuda’s balls.
Also, some of the funniest moments of Ep 2 came from the fights between Hotori & Matsuda, especially the burger dispute. Just the mocking tone of voice Hotori has when it zooms on her saying he could just eat the bun is priceless
I think she already did show up.
Futaba? Throughout the two episodes & manga, she doesn’t show up until the Cat Boy chapter/episode, though she’s shown performs the ED (unless she was in the background during one of Hotori’s school scenes)
