Hanasaku Iroha 4: Love Will Tear Us Apart

April 25, 2011 in Currently Blogging Anime, Hanasaku Iroha

Agaiiiiiin

When routine bites hard and ambitions are low, resentment rides high but emotions won’t grow, as this time around on Hanasaku, we learn about the heartache of adolescence, as Minchi is pursuing one specific guy despite the undying devotion another guy has for her, Nakochi get’s a nickname, and Ohana struggles in her first day of school. We’ll find out as desperation takes hold today.

We begin with Jiroumaru happily cleaning a pot after being recruited into the Inn to pay off his tab, though he does seem rather pleased to hear that Ohana will be going to school, as he indulges his thoughts into the girls there.

You'll find out soon enough when you see a camera hidden in the faucet, showerhead, and bathstool

Ohana is irriated this morning as Tohru tells her to lift up her skirt. However, as she walks to school with Nakochi & Minchi, she is happy of the cherry blossom petals raining down as it reminds her of walking with Ko.

I wonder why? It couldn't be because he loved you, cause that would be absurd, right?

When they get to school, Ohana is getting showers of questions from the country students as they are astounded that she came from Tokyo, much to Minchi’s frustration. However, Ohana is suddenly approached by a boy who asks her to take a picture of Minchi as he has a deep crush with her and wants to be with her badly.

You forgot about the only other redeeming value of Minchi, her voice which is akin to a symphony in my ears.

To save Ohana’s ass from having to answer all of these questions, a girl named Yuina drags her away from the mob of curious countryfolk. Yuina is apparently a successor to own the Inn that is a business partner/rival to Ohana’s Inn, but Yuina doesn’t care in the slightest and would rather party than inherit the inn.

There are ways to have fun in Bumfuck Nowhere?

Much like my attempt at asking someone out in an old French class, the boy from earlier gets flat-out rejected after asking her out on a date, claiming that he has none of the qualities that suit her. These qualities are someone who’s a polite jerkass, so the boy who is a polite dreamer has no chance at all.

I wouldn't be so sure about that...

When they get home, Tomoe has a funny part when she plans on ruining Minchi’s lovelife as she rejects a whole slew of guys while Tomoe remains single and alone, and is being restrained by Ohana and Nakochi who are trying to save her from herself.

Meanwhile, Ohana thinks of how to properly respond to Ko’s last text message without making it look like she’s trying to ignore the fact that he confessed to her. This process though is averted by Nakochi, who asks Ohana to come along with her to Yuina’s Inn concerning the neighborhood watch.

Nakochi watches you touch yourself

Nakochi is delighted that this was the 1st time she was able to confidently go there as she would get intimidated by everyone there (especially Yuina’s grandma who looks as much as an old rag as Ohana’s). But Ohana tries to quickly get out as an evil heron attempts to attack her with violence.

There's reason to believe that the heron is actually the most diablolical villain on the show

Afterwards, Nakochi has Ohana come with her to the temple she prays at where she tells her of overcoming her timid nature.

It's Madoka you're praying to, isn't it?

It’s here where Ohana gives Nako the nickname Nakochi, which makes Nakochi very happy as she always wanted to have a friend she could have nicknames with. She looks back on how she called Minko Minchi when she wasn’t able to finish her original nickname for her Minkochan and got a warm welcome with the nickname Minchi.

Oh Nakochi, you're everything I wish Minchi was. At least you've got Aki Toyosaki to voice you ( " ^ _ ^ &quot ;)

Later on, Ohana is having a difficult time reasoning with Tohru on where to put the fish as he has his rules for everything. However, Minchi tells her that she’ll fill in for her and saves her from anymore of Tohru’s nagging so that she can be with him.

There's a first and last time for everything

Later on when she’s bathing, she thinks of a way to thank Minchi for saving her ass back there. Luckily, Minchi decides to bathe at the same time.

Lulz, I think Minchi's ass just found one of Jiroumaru's hidden cameras

Ohana decides to tell her that she’s thankful for saving him from the Mr. Grumpyface that Tohru is, but this pisses off Minchi as she defends him as a kind but stern guy. This correlates with Minchi’s earlier claim that she wants a polite jerkass and asks if Tohru is the guy she likes.

You like Tohru, don't you Squidward?

This pisses off Minchi to an even higher degree, to the point that the next day, she farkin’ strangles her when she tries to apologize to her.

Geez Minchi, it's not like she took a shit in your cereal this morning

There is a poetic irony to Minchi’s display of bitchiness, as Tohru appears in front of Yuina’s Inn on his motorbike to hug Yuina intensely and take her for a ride as she shouts “LET’S PARTY!”

Hopefully, Tohru's not the type who considers slipping roofies into her Vodka as his definition of "party"

If that isn’t enough, the episode ends with the heron from earlier getting ready to rape Ohana.

Not this shit again! >.<

Overall, this was an interesting one, as we see the story progress with Minchi’s love arc. However, because Minchi is a raging bitch this time around, Nakochi was the real star of the episode for me as we see her warming up to people and even setting out to improve herself as she befriends Ohana. It’s also gonna be interesting to see what will happen to Yuina now that Minchi has her in her crosshairs.

Minchi's gonna lop off Tohru's head and take it on a Nice Boat
