Mayo Chiki 1: Subaru’s Delicious Pain
July 12, 2011 in Currently Blogging Anime, Mayo Chiki
In this series, we discover the charms behind a butler who might possibly be a reverse trap as well as a beacon of violence, as well as what lies in store when one unfortunate guy figures out her secret, and the true nature of the butler’s master who has her own brand of sadism to bring to the table. We begin the series with our protagonist Jirou getting a wake-up call from his energetic sister Kureha aka Kana Hanazawa who often wakes up her brother through violent beatings, possibly to feed into his fear of women though to her it’s practically skinship.
At school, he happens to see a butler named Subaru escorting a rich girl named Kanade onto campus, much to his distaste for theatrics such as parading your wealth around.
His friend, however takes notice to Jirou’s fear of women and being the mature adult he is, he starts shouting out how much of a massive flaming gay he is for being scared of girls and fascinated by Subaru
While running to take a shit/avoid all the girls who are gullible enough to think he’s gay, Jirou bumps into the best airbags ever, those being the boobs of the tan glasses catgirl Nakuru who is very much into writing enough to avoid being a stereotypical “You hit my boob, prepare to die obviously”
NAWWWWWWWWWWW, that’s Subaru’s job who was caught taking a leak in the mens room when Jirou had to pee in the one stall Subaru was peeing/pooping in. Incidentally, it appears that Subaru has no idea how to use the lock on a bathroom door.
She, however, is quick to shift the blame on him, as he had enough time to see her kitty panties (despite the fact that she’s the one taking a dump in the men’s room), and thus is motivated to erase his memories through punching him in the face
During a panicked chase scene, Jirou trips and grabs Subaru’s boob, taking some extra time to give them a honk. Because of this, she now has incentive to knock him the fuck out.

I wonder if there's ever been a time in someone's life when they actually landed on someone like this
He doesn’t lose his memories like she promised. However, he does wake up handcuffed to a bed next to Kanade, who takes some time to tease Jirou as she was told by Subaru that he was a massive pervert.
It appears that Subaru was put in some bondage gear to restrain her (possibly to avoid pounding Jirou’s head into oatmeal).
It appears that Subaru is from a family renown for their legendary male butlers, and from a young age, Subaru was hoping to become a butler herself even though she has boobs. However, her father let her become a butler on the condition that no one, and he means NO ONE, find out her true gender.
Which leads us to Jirou, who was the only person to ever know Subaru’s secret. Now she could either kill him and bury the body in the root of Mt. Fuji, or she could torment him in exchange for his silence, which isn’t far out of reach considering she is sadistic and gets off to his pain.

It's kinda odd how this is one of the only times in the episode he's referred to as "Chicken-kun". FUN FACT: They use the katakana pronunciation "Chiken" but "Toori"
Through his pain though, Kanade discovers that he has gynophobia, the fear of women, as shown by his nosebleeds incurred by even getting close contact with girls. Kanade, however, feels generous and is willing to cure that on the condition he never blabs.

So when anime characters have nosebleeds, this is actually a result of gynophobia? It should also be noted that he doesn't hit women as a result of it like his andro counterparts
The next day, Jirou magically finds Subaru naked in his laundry room. If this were a dream (which it would have to be because there’s no way that a girl like that would undress in just any guy’s house), this would be the great time for some sex. However, because this is the world of Mayo Chiki, Subaru had to do her laundry at his house because Kanade forced her too, and as such punches Jirou because he saw her when she stripped in front of him in his own house.
Overall, this show is alot like some of the other show’s I have covered so this all does feel like familiar territory except with a reverse trap. That being said, there are very few times the show really tries to move beyond concepts other shows have used much more efficiently such as the blackmail of someone with a gender-related disorder like Maria Holic or the disorder curing of MM!, and then there’s the elephant in the room with Jirou being constantly beaten for things that aren’t even his fault.
However, this is not to say the show has no saving graces at all, as Kanade is showing to be a fun, sadistic character who is willing to throw the whole world under a bus to appease her delights, Subaru is insanely hot but also has some potential story-wise as her backstory of trying to be accepted as a butler could develop into something great, and it seems that there will be alot more ecchi in the show than in similar-themed series so if all else fails, you can at least ogle at the cast (which judging from Subaru, Kanade, and Nakuru, I can expect some better ecchi than some of the other Summer outings).
QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT! I am actually going to do another Image-Blog on Wafflechan. If you all remember, the 1st one I did was on Rio: Rainbow Gate, a winner back during the winter season. Sadly, I made the mistake of not backing it up and lost it within the depths of Wafflechan Purgatory, so this time, I will do a very awesome job and save screencaps of this Image-Blog to post for future reference on the Waffleboards or a season finale post on CSW. As for what I chose to do my Image-Blog for, Hi…….mi……..tsu~
But here’s the hint: ( . Y . )

bout time someone blog this.
I like the reverse trap butler aspect, but everything else seems really stupid, so not even going to try it.
Also, has Japan never watched any of those talk shows or whatever where they help people overcome their phobias? Do people that have a dog phobia hit the dogs? No, they freak out and try to run away, or freeze up and stuff.
Manyuu Hikencho?
I know I already gave my thoughts on this episode on Wafflechan, but to reiterate, I didn’t find it that bad. Sure, sneaking the name “Chicken” into the MC’s name was a little cruel, but it reminds me of Nozomu from SZS (who hates his name because if truncated just right, it becomes Despair).
Also, I thought it was hilarious where Kinjirou’s friend told everyone he was gay. Kinjirou could really identify with Kuwabara.
Even though I won’t be watching this series right now, I’m still gonna read these blogs, since Chaps is an awesome blogger.
