Persona 4 the Animation 05
#5: Would you love me?
This week, P4A takes a break from all the fighting, and decides to focus on Ai Ebihara’s Social Link. Also included, is my personal favorite school Social Link from the game, Kou Ichijou’s basketball link. With that being said, Yu joins the basketball team, and the drama unfolds. Yes, this includes Chie and Ai slapping each other. Ooh, jealous.
Two Social Links in one episode? Looks like P4A is picking up the pace. We start off in the middle of the episode, when Ai confesses her love to Yu. Head back a day and the gang is talking about how happy the are to have saved Yukiko. Now they have time to collect their thoughts and take a breather, but they’ve still got school to worry about. This is when Chie introduces Yu to the basketball team, and he formally meets Kou and Nagase. Yu’s to be the new member of the basketball team. The basketball team isn’t really enthusiastic, and neither is the manager, Ai Ebihara. Back at the Dojima residence, Dojima and Adachi get home, for a nice meal as family and friends. They discuss vacation plans, and little Nanako gets really excited about her trip to Junes… everyday’s great.
So now Ai wants Yu (lol) to ditch with her and go shopping and stuff, but lies and tells him that it’s to help the club out. Not to mention, they did this scene with an 80s shopping montage. Not really, but I just thought about something like that when this scene came up. Yu also works on more of his cranes, every impressive handiwork. And Yu can probably tell Ai is falling for him. She like’s Kou, though. So what happens is that Kou defends Ai from the team’s hurtful words, and you know she’s falling for Kou. So now it’s up to Yu to see if Kou likes someone or is already taken. It’ for Ai. Looks like our basketball player likes Chie. This leaves Ai depressed and suicidal. She might even be overreacting a bit. This is the point where she begins to fall in love with Yu, sorta? I mean, until she can get another guy. What a total bitch…
So Ai comes and removes Yu from his friends to ditch and go hang out. They spend some time together, much to Yu’s dismay. Yu needs to meet up at Junes with his friends… oh my God, his ringtone, the Catherine death theme! Ai’s conflicting with his plans, though. Chie’s getting irritated by all of this Ai stuff, though. She mad. Yosuke thinks that Chie likes Yu and is jealous of Ai. So he comes up with a plan to make Chie the basketball club manager. Now the complication arises that Kou might quit the team after this game because his parents never approved his being on the team. They need to make it a memorable game and win! Then, he can confess. Yosuke’s an honorary player, and Ai and Chie get mad at each other. Then they argue, then they start a bitch fight right when the basketball game is going on!
No she didn’t! Yes she did! Yosuke just loves standing by and watching, it seems. Yu tries to break up the fight, and pretty much manages. Kou is definitely trying his hardest out there in the court. Afterwards, the team’s chilling at the restaurant. There, is a character named Aika… I don’t remember her from the game, she might be anime-only. Kou’s decided not to quit the team after all. He really loves the sport. Social Link up! Ai is sticking around for the club as well, probably to stay closer to Kou. Yu’s Social Link for Ai goes on as well, and she gives him the pictures they took. Does that mean that his talks with her are over for the whole series now? Either way, Yu finally catches a break. In a post credits scene… the rooftop scene! Investigations will continue, including one of a certain Kanji Tatsumi…
Show up for the next episode, I’ll beat you, and beat you good. (Still can’t get over the ringtone’s awesomeness.)
