A Call to Arms! Pt. 1

April 15, 2012 in Currently Blogging Anime, Updates/Featured Posts

Some of you may remember, while others might not have given a damn, but it’s that time of the Second AniBlog Tournament!  For those of you who aren’t sure of what this is, it’s a tournament where viewers from all blogs come to vote for their favorite blogs as their pitted against each other one on one.  I saw our first match-up and sighed as I found out that it was Sekijitsu – better than being paired against BakaRaptor or NullSet first round but still a tough match up nonetheless. Needless to say, I headed into my bunker and called Commander Jubbz on the front line in Stalingrad.  I managed to type out everything before the Germans traced my telegraph signal.  Even as of now, I am on the run as Tofu hires his army to hunt me down, but I managed to get this up.

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: Another anime blog tournament!  Man, the time I was in the last one, I was writing for Bokutachi no Blog (who are in the tournament this time around again and as always, a fun blog to read).  This brings back a lot of memories – not only because I raged at some of my picks failing but because you got introduced to so many other great blogs because of the tournament.

Power Jubbz: Ah. Well, I remember the last time we were last time were in one of these stupid things… We got our ass kicked by Nihon Review by a damn landslide, and I freaking called it too! But noooooo, people told me not to be pessimistic. I WAS BEING REALISTIC.

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: You sound mad.  Win or loss, this tournament was a great way for many blogs to hit “the” scene.  Votes may be votes, but what counts is the quality and frequency of the votes.  Our first opponents are Sekijitsu, who are a great group of people and bloggers.  Tofu is practically my twin down south and Bass is just a great guy in general who I’ve known for a long time.  I’m just actually surprised that we’re seeded together first seed.

Power Jubbz: Of course i’m mad. Anyone would be mad if they lost by a landslide! Even if it was the Nihon Review! I just hate losing, that’s all. You don’t like to lose, right?  Even if Sekijitsu’s people are good guys, I don’t want to lose to’em.

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: I don’t like losing, and I’m sure the guys on Sekijitsu don’t either nevertheless.  It comes down to this.  What does Sekijitsu have that we don’t?  Posts aside (we’ll let the viewers decide that), they do have an amazing template, you have to give them that.  Not to mention being partnered with METANORN should help them a lot.

Power Jubbz: Well of course they got all of those perks. We’re not partnered with anyone, and according to you, their template is better than ours. So pray tell, how do we even begin to stand a chance?

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: Chance?  Men, did David not beat Goliath?  Did Barnsley not go on to beat Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool in the FA Cup run?  Did the Chicago Bulls lose to the Heat without Derek Rose?  It’s about effort – win or lose, if we tried our best to make ourselves connect to our viewers, does that not make us that much better?  Men, this is not war.  This is… some form of intangible tournament that is decided on popularity.  Plus, Mushyrulez is doing something fun in the tournament that involves REALISTIC gambling.  Check it out guys.

Power Jubbz: …..yeah, it’s war. Dude, last time I checked, a lot of people don’t like us because of our lack of professionalism.  But honestly, I think that gives us a bit of charm.  I mean, honestly, I don’t want to be surrounded by a bunch of sensitive people who can’t handle one or two sentences of profanity. But at the same time, I don’t want be hated. On the other hand, I’m not going to jump on the proverbial bandwagon.

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: As much as you might argue that, professionalism is what makes up most of the world today.  Things cannot function without professionalism, and although I’m not saying Sekijitu is higher in the blogsphere than we are, we keep a standard in all our posts.  Granted, the standard may not be liked by a lot, but there are people who love the carefree environment of non-professional, trolling, easy-to-read posts.  And I truly believe no site does better trolling than us, save for Baka Raptor.  Trolling?  I meant carefree writing.

Power Jubbz: Honestly professionalism isn’t my strongest point. If I’m not getting paid, why act professional? It’s a popularity contest, and the best way to win would probably be that we start being more professional, but with a crew like mine… they’re not exactly the most… professional bunch out there. They’re free spirits, they have their own voice, and I allow them to be themselves. My crew wouldn’t be my crew if we had to make a drastic change like that. I can’t really explain why though. If it’s because my crew likes trolling, or if my crew just doesn’t like to be held down… I can’t say. But what I can say is that I’m proud of my crew, even if some of’ them can really be a pain in the ass. Because without my crew, CSW wouldn’t exist as it is today.

Andrew “AvuKamu” Yoon: CSW not only exists because of the crew but all the viewers that come and read our posts.  We always try to interact with all our viewers because that’s what any blog is run on – people interested in your ideas and thoughts.  Big shoutout to all of the CSW crew and viewers.  You are the best.  In terms of Sekijitsu, watch Tofu go Beast-Mode on me. But we’ll get that in a later post.  Pray tell that I’m still alive.
