AO: Still Fighting
April 28, 2012 in Currently Blogging Anime, Eureka Seven AO
Unlike Jubbz taste for the bizarre, this episode does not contain any bondage or intercourse between a sloth and a Coralian. Just good old back story and character development
Nothing like explaining the past to bring light on the present. Although only a few glimpses of it and plenty of hidden mysteries to unravel. We get to see how Generation Blue handles it’s affairs and a bit of the crew’s personalities. Ao finds some determination despite the overwhelming hatred around him. AO seems to be picking up it’s pace, we’ll see if it’s able to maintain the momentum.

I was beginning to think they weren’t going to reveal anything about the past until the show was almost over. But finally we are able to see what happened in the early years and why the events we are seeing came to be. Not to mention we got to know the side characters a little bit better. And to round it all up, Ao seems like he’s going to kick some major ass
cidz
yeah! i really liked this ep alot better. i was happy to see we had finally gotten some backstore on eureka, and they also decided to show her face (dunno why they hid it before) and i liked seeing the side chars. especially the generation blue. i liked them actually they have some pretty intersting personality. we also got to see more into the 3 guys too turns out thier fathers are the ones trying to capture Ao.
Dillo
Yes, Eureka got the same treatment Renton’s sister got in the first series. However, everyone knew how Eureka face looked like and unless some hideous scars came into existence, there was no real reason to hide it. Let’s start with the backstory since it was pretty interesting. A 7-8 month pregnant Eureka falls from the sky(from an unknown height or object) and lands on the ocean. Nearly drowns but she’s saved along with her unborn child. Trappar and Scrub Coral apparently came with her and transformed that little island. Yet bliss is not eternal, and 3 years after Ao was born, a Scrub Burst occurs and several island children are killed(except for Naru). Who’s to blame? Alien woman who angered the sea giant.
cidz
yeah i dunno why they hid it either that was silly lol. But hmm yeah, thats intersting that she fell from the sky (and that she didnt have a miscarriage from the impact O_o) I can see though why the island would treat her and Ao as filth even before the accident, because shes this strange foriegn thing that fell from the sky. The island seems small and one of those “everyone knows everyone” type of things. But I guess thier hatred/predgious grew even more when they thought she was behind the scub burst and killed all those children. Didnt the americans take her away?
Dillo
Several international powers came looking for her, old guy managed to keep her hidden but the disaster that occured ten years ago blew her cover and taken away for some good old probing. Anime physics still manage to entertain as drowning became more of a threat than the impact itself. Perhaps the trappar managed to ease the impact, after all why would the sky try to kill it’s own children? Who’s the father? If time travel still remains a valid theory perhaps Renton might show up eventually. Where he is or what he’s doing is a complete mystery. Though if we were to believe this is a sequel, it is out of character for Renton to allow the love of his life and children to fall to their most certain deaths. Maybe he went off to search for a portal that would take them to their supposed time. Or simply this is just an independent story. Choose your own twisted logic.
cidz
Well, i think that its not a time traveling thing i actually think this might be just another area of the world that wasnt inhabited by scub coral (ill assume that not the whole world was in E7 or was it?) either way its a small island and perhaps kind of hidden away from most of the other world. so i think its possible that it just took place a little after E7. but i agree its odd that renton didnt come after eureka. in E7 the guy flew to grab her outta thin air just to save her O_O and yet she falls out of the sky with thier child and like no sign of renton. unless he died perhaps? maybe they got into an accident and she flew outta the sky and he tumbled off somewhere else either dead or maybe hes out trying to search for her (unless they wanna go the amnesia route which i hope to god they dont). unless of course this is a completely alternate version of E7 in which there is no renton. either way i think that the only sequel part of this series is the fact that eureka was pregent with Ao. and we get glimpses of her in the backstory. other then that it seems to be another E7 story with completely diff chars.
which im ok with…except for gulliver he needs to return and be awesome
Dillo
No offense, but your theory makes no sense whatsoever. AO contains more than just Okinawa. China-Japan, US and Europe are all mentioned. AO takes place not too far from our present. Fighter jets, cruise ships, cars and pretty much all the stuff we currently have are still present. But I do aggree that the sloth must be killed and replaced with Gulliver. Though the scene where it’s stuffed inside Naru’s underwear cabinet was pretty hilarious.
cidz
hmmm thats true. well i guess thers still the time traveling theory idk. and haha yeah that was pretty cute! ~ maybe later on hell have more of a personality?
Dillo
The time traveling theory is just one huge F U to logic and the events occurred in the first season. If by some bizarre event, Eureka ended up traveling back to when Scrub Coral first made contact with humanity. And Ao manages to make co-existance possible so early on. Then several characters in E7 might not even exist. There would be no conflict in the future, and all the suffering and trials that occurred then would be for naught. Unless of course you believe they traveled to a parallel past that wouldn’t affect E7′s present but rather create an alternate present. Perhaps everyone is rooting for Ao to fail and Renton to come back with the news of finding a portal that would lead everyone home. Where the Gekko cast is waiting with their children. Oh joy.
cidz
yeah thats true….i just think it could be an alternate setting or something idk…im hoping they explain more on the backstory and we find out why she fell out of the sky. personallly tho i like seeing Aos story and not like the past chars from E7 but i guess its blasphemous to say otherwise haha
Dillo
True enough, let’s move on to the actual story. The generation that started the fight for Okinawa’s independence failed to compltely abtain. Since accepting one’s failures is forbidden for humanity, a scape goat had to be found and Eureka was the right candidate. She looked different than everyone else and her arrival coincided with when everything went to hell. But after she was taken away, and indepence still a dream. They decided to pick on Eureka’s child and encouraged their own children to do the same. Basically, Ao’s childhood was a bloody nightmare with everyone bullying him. Tough kid to manage to fight it’s way through all of that and still cherish the memory of his mother.
cidz
yeah rly gotta hand it to Ao for that lol. youd think hed hate his mom or something specially since he only knew her barely for his first 3 yrs of his life. but thats true if things dont go your way find a scapegoat and blame it on them. its really not very fair but at least Ao had the old man take care o f him and not see him or his mom as monsters or aliens maybe thats why he cherishes his mom still?
Dillo
It’s not like Eureka mistreated him for those 3 long years, therefore I guess he simply wishes for someone to love him. And with that hair and those eyes, is difficult to find any kind of love. Interesting though that Eureka registered Ao with Nirvash. Perhaps she knew that a giant robot is more dependable protection than a mother who randomly falls out of the sky
cidz
thats true.. maybe she figured something would hapen to her someday so she wanted Ao to be safe
Dillo
At least the new generation of Okiniwans was able to see through their parents flaws and decided to make things right. And by right I mean favorable to them, basically doing the same thing as their parents and using Ao as a tool to achieve their goals. But hey, plenty of episodes remain for redemption. Though I do think we’ll be saying goodbye to them pretty soon when Ao joins Generation Blue. Maybe even Naru will be left behind….
cidz
awwww i know i hope not! but yeah it does seem that they too are making the same mistakes even though i think they mean well. either way it seems the only ones that care about Ao for himself is the old man he calls grandpa and naru
Dillo
Naru has a delicate health though. If she were to come along with him, it could prove to be deadly for her. Guessing Ao is going to promise to return eventually and end up pairing up with one of the pilots from Pied Piper. Which aren’t so bad actually, even the moe pink haired pilot seems to get serious when necessary. The blonde isn’t tsundere at all and the old guy in charge actually has a commanding aura.
cidz
i know! soi wonder you know wutll happen with naru and Ao? is she just sort of a love interest to set things up oooor will he cont. going with her? hah yeah i like the generation blue girls. theyre intersting and none of them are grating. also the guy with the mustache thats part of the generation blue (he said he knew eureka) isnt he from part1?
Dillo
Yeah, it’s the old guy I was speaking of. Tremendously tall and strong with a connection with Eureka. The lady that’s second in command seems to hold the whole group together and has a sense of humor. Funny how once again children are the only ones capable of piloting machines capable of destroying cities.
cidz
oh yeah! i was thinking that too im like “lol wtf is up with mecha animes and only having children/teens being able to pilot mechas O_o” i never quite understood it.
hmm but yeah i liked the 2nd in command lady she was awesome
Dillo
Perhaps living machinery are pedos after all, it makes no sense to place such a burden on children who haven’t lived life to the fullest. Then again, at that age, you feel like everything is an adventure and that you can’t be killed. Either way, the next episode seems to have plenty of action in store for us. Secrets in massive numbers and Pied Piper showing it’s true capability. Ao going in with a new determination and perhaps the end of the Okinawa arc. I am curious though, why are the secrets so obsessed with destroying the Scrub Coral and it’s core, Quartz. If they’re both Coralians, what’s the point of such destruction?
cidz
aahahaha seriously! children dont make the best decisions but perhaps the adults just say that to the children because well theyre alot more easily brainwashed then adults are and stuff… i mean why go get yourself killed just make the kids do it! and yeah i cant wait for next ep! gonna be tons of action awesome <3 and im curious too about the secret and the scub coral and whatnot.
Still rather early to make a sound judgement of the series. Until now, there’s very little to dislike other than the horrid opening and closing songs. The plot hasn’t turned interesting as of yet but the characters are definitely worth cheering for. Mecha fights will be abundant next episode, curious to see how it is animated.

Seriously? I can handle you calling the OP song horrid (partly because of Chaps’ comment before mine), but the ED? That’s it; I’m out, and I mean it this time.
well i think the OP could of been better but its not horrid. not for me at least. i don’t remember what the ED sounds like.
Keep crying wolf and no one will care when your remains are found. It’s surprising to see that your previous reason for not reading anymore isn’t even mentioned at all. Yet a difference in our taste of music causes you to implode. From past observations, I can tell that there’s very little you can actually handle…
I don’t see how the OP/ED are so polarizing. They just sound like regular J-rock anime songs. Sure Hemenway’s singer isn’t the best but there’s nothing offensive about the OP or ED. No autotune, screamo, dubstep, J-rap, or anything that would make me roll my eyes.
As for the episode, it was cool and all, though the people on the island are acting pretty immature blaming a little boy for an angry sea monster. It kinda reminds me of Turn A with the protag fighting for people that resent him for his race, and if it’s anything like that, I’d imagine that all the technology got fucked up by the sea monster and they had to start all over with primitive present-day technology. Then again the sea monster is probably the reason why everything including the time stream got fucked up.
I saw episode 0 recently. Nothing but a recap of the original series. But the way Eureka talking suggests something very bad apparently happened after the ending.
Nirvash got jelly that Renton got Eureka pregnant instead of her, so she threw Eureka out to try for a fall-abortion. Didn’t work. Nirvash has had some time to think on it though, and feels bad for that whole thing.
OP and ED are pretty rockin’, though nothing special in this form; but maybe the full songs will be better. Sorry they have too many real instruments for you, and not enough disco.
