Mysterious Girlfriend X 3: KISS KISS FALL IN LOVE!

April 26, 2012 in Mysterious Girlfriend X

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

X is gonna give it to us in this week’s episode as Tsubaki discovers his best friend happens to have a girlfriend that he can kiss, and further reminding Tsubaki that he still can’t kiss his nutbar girlfriend Urabe. However, when Urabe gives him the opportunity to make out twice, does he end up going with it, or does he refuse?

Our first scene is pretty much Tsubaki catching his friend Ueno making out with hot megane girl Oka. Ueno sees Tsubaki and is shocked, quietly demanding him not to tell anyone else about this because in this fucked up world, saying that you have an attractive girlfriend who you love dating and kissing is a mortal sin and is punishable by death.

"Being with one of the most attractive girls in school would totally kill my reputation, bro"

Tsubaki is still hellbent on getting a kiss in there, though Urabe decides that rather than kissing him, she would rather drool into a vial and would like Tsubaki to chug it up late at night.

And then she starts puking into the vial

That night, he laps up the drool in his hand before he goes to sleep. Urabe’s saliva causes Tsubaki to dream about a scenario where Urabe passes a candy to him through some mouth-to-mouth.  Unfortunately for Dream Tsubaki, he is left unsatisfied as he didn’t get to appreciate the kiss.

Of course this is all a dream sequence pfft

This reflects on real life too as Urabe asks once more if Tsubaki would like to make out in the bushes. However, because only kids who worship the devil fornicate before wedlock ( rofl ), Tsubaki refuses as he would much rather do it when they are emotionally connected. This makes Urabe very happy as she was thinking the same way too.

The icicles in my heart are melting at the sight of happy blushy Urabe

Someone always has to fuck things up for everyone else, so a guy whom I will name Captain Homewrecker decides this would be a swell time to ask Urabe out in the middle of her relationship with Tsubaki.

I know he doesn't know about Tsubaki, but I'm in the mood for waving my finger at someone, dammit

Urabe wants to choose for herself rather than just brush him off in favor of Tsubaki. Tsubaki is none too pleased as he just thinks that Urabe is trying to find a way to dump him and doesn’t like that Urabe wants to give him some type of chance.

"And if that doesn't work, I'll drag him into the bushes and break his ankles"

The next day, we see that Urabe’s ultimate plan was for Captain Homewrecker to try some of her famous saliva. However, when he doesn’t feel anything from the said spit, she walks away and tells him that their relationship would never work.

Little did he know that she made this batch taste like repulsive dregs

Later that day, when she meets up with Tsubaki, she has him taste her drool that day resulting in him getting a nosebleed. This is because she went the entire day without her pantsu to enhance the flavor of her spit and test the two with her saliva. As established, her spit can cause emotional/physical reactions from the person that she has an emotional connection with, thus Tsubaki had trumped the other guy by being able to react with a nosebleed.

Not that you'd really care, much about my underwear, still nonetheless I have to saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Tsubaki is so touched that he wants some glomping, but Urabe retaliates by trying to pull out her pantsu scissor, but because she doesn’t have her pantsu on, she just bonks him on the head with her scissors as the episode ends with a reaffirmation for Tsubaki not to go that far.

Again, what kind of person hugs like that?

Overall, I would say that the series is continuing to impress me so far. There are a few rough patches like why it’s so taboo for both Ueno and Tsubaki to be more open about their relationships and why “looking awkward” should be an issue when there are tons of kids who are probably Ronery with a capital R, let alone why Urabe feels that sharing non-sexual intimate moments is unacceptable (hugging, kissing, holding hands; all corrupt evils of the youth!) and yet considering getting with a guy in the midst of a relationship is fine by her.

Nonetheless, the relationship between Tsubaki and Urabe is still a cute, quirky new dynamic to the typical romance with Tsubaki starting to understand the way that Urabe thinks and understands the concept of love through her saliva. In particular, the scene in the bushes as a great example on how to do this kind of romance as the dream helped Tsubaki understand that he should make his first kiss with Urabe much more special and theatrical than just outright begging for one. I’m also quite interested in glassesgirl Oka, whom will be getting a ton of coverage in the next episode.

I sure hope this is going where I think it's going
