AO: Walk This Way
May 15, 2012 in Currently Blogging Anime
Both the hippies and I return to another installment of AO
If there’s anyone to blame for the tardiness of this post…then that would be Cid and her cursed illness. Of course that I could have continued by myself but even I have issues that I rather not blog about. In regards to the anime, I’ve yet to be hooked but it’s not painful to watch it.
Dillo: First, I’d like to apologize to one of our readers who accurately pointed it out that my judgement on the opening song was mistaken. Upon a closer inspection, I no longer find the song to be terrible but abominable. It nearly made me puke my brains out several times. I had to fast forward as fast as I could but even a few glimpse made me sick. Anywho, music wise, AO isn’t that appealing or diverse. I believe they played that one single track on every emotional moment to date. It’s like it’s the only track they’re allowed to play because playing any other would be a blasphemy. The ending song is still terrible, I mean if one of the arguments for it’s non-terribleness(word, I checked) is that it contains full instruments. Then dear god how easily can we be entertained? I’m not a giant fan of J-pop/rock since pop is the lowest common denominator when it comes to music. And J-rock is as generic as it gets, I can even connect with the lyrics since I can’t understand any of it. And reading it is not the same as listening to it, otherwise, I’d read a book.
cidz: XDDDD Well yeah i dont feel as harsh about the OP/ED as you do, although theyve yet to grow on me. LIke some parts i think they arent so bad and kinda catchy actually but other parts not so much. Hmm the music in the series isnt bad, i think i heard one i liked. But I agree it doesn’t stand out as much as the first series lol. Still it’s not too bad.
Dillo: Perhaps somewhere in between our opinions lies the truth. However, knowing your inability to hate something, I’ll bet that I’m right. Moving on to what actually happened during the episode, I have to say that the clash between the secrets and generation blue wasn’t as epic as I was expecting. Pretty lights flashing in the sky representing major destruction, massive lock ons, and unlimited missiles launching. Standard Gundam like battle, but at least Ao went from clumsy to ass kicking main character.
cidz: ah sorry for lateness i had to go take car eof my mom
ah yeah this rly wasnt as actiony as i thought! i was a little bit dissapointed cuz i wanted to see all that awesome BONES animation. still it wasnt half bad like you said Ao was pretty badass in this ep lol. taking on that big secret or something and destorying it. i also liked that he decided to join the generation blue
Dillo: Another major piece of informations is that Eureka dissappeared into a Scrub Burst, either she’s dead or most likely in another dimension. Perhaps she’s back in the era protrayed in the original series. And it could even be possible for Ao to travel where she currently is. Because let’s face it, Eureka isn’t dead, no way this show would ever kill her despite her deserving to die a couple of times over. Though I do remember last episode mentioned the Americans abducted her, perhaps she disappeared while in their service. Who knows, just that Yankees are still assholes and the rest of world continues to be opressed
cidz: Hmm yeah i remmber them saying the americans captured her too now thier syaing she dissapeared in a scub burst? maybe the americans captured her then sh went to help them or something and dissapeared int he scub burst? and yeah lol i doubt shes dead shell prolly end up at the end or something and Ao can has a happy reuinion with her. and still no mention of renton, at this point im gonna assume the writers were like ‘screw renton lets focus on eureka instead!” so we prolly wont get any mention on that.
Dillo: I’m sure Renton will get his spot in the sunlight eventually, or they decided to scrap him for this show. Personally, I don’t miss his presence and I don’t believe he can contribute anything to this series. I do wonder if Ao is able to reunite with his mother, travelling to different dimension, then he will have to make a choice. Either stay with his mother or return to his lover Naru, though the choice is pretty obvious actually.
cidz: hmmm oh yeah that does seem like a tough choice! i bet hed prolly choose to go with his mom or something to save the world idk….and yeah i guess there is no point to renton or anything eureka seems to play a part so thats why they have her lol.
Dillo: Another event that interested me was the removal of the Quartz from the Scrub Coral. Seems like an important object and extremely powerful. I do wonder what it’s uses are as one of them has already been shown. It is capable of producing another Scrub Coral.
cidz: The quartz? Wasn’t that eureka’s bracelet the one that Ao wears now? If not i bet it has something to do with it. Maybe thats how Eureka brought the scub corals?
Dillo: It’s still a mystery, but Ao’s bracelet does seem to be made from the same material. Another element that was further explained was trappar. I apparently, it has become the new fossil fuel and every single country desires it. Since it was first produced in Okinawa, I’m guessing it brought immediate riches making indepence seem possible. Yet as the world found it’s true potential, they now made Okinawa it’s puppet. Such a turn of events doesn’t make Okinawa’s citizens happy and hippies finally make their appearence. After all, Eureka Seven is nothing without it’s hippies.
cidz: LOL oh yeah wondered wut took so long for the hippehs to show up!XD also i liked that we got to see a more city life rather then the country/island life that was kinda intersting. but yeah i guess trappars got explained more and now the main source, that was intersting. is that why that island isnt independent anymore? or was that big city on that island that Ao comes from?
Dillo: Honestly, I have my knowledge of the area is non-existent but I do believe Okinawa was that big city and Ao lived in a smaller island. There’s a ton of islands in Japan I believe.
cidz: ahhhh i see makes sense. and thats true i think the island that Ao lives on is owned by the americans or something? and yeah there prolly are alotta small ones
Dillo: America goes where it pleases, God blessed us after all. Recently, Ao has becomed the most wanted boy in the planet. We’ll have to see how much influence Generation Blue has and if it’s able to protect them.
cidz: oh yeah even that guys sis tried to turn Ao in! why is he wanted because hes like half corolian or something? I know I wanna see wut the generation blue is gonna do, i guess they can prolly hide him or maybe protect him?
The main character has embarked in a new adventure that will hopefully make the anime more exciting. I can’t complain too much about the characters except maybe that trio that managed to sneak in at the end. Several questions still unanswered and perhaps new love interests in the horizon.

Noah is a boy sloth.
Generation Bleu will probably only have trouble protecting Ao when he’s outside their base.

Your music taste still sucks, and I’m outta here.
I actually find the ED to be more listenable than the OP now that I go through them. They are very forgettable songs but again, there’s much worse songs out there (Go Go Maniac from K-ON!!, the Fear and Loathing one from HxH, Whats Up People from Death Note, and the Kill Me Baby theme song)
As for the series, it’s ok I guess. It’s not really hooking me in with all of the politics going on. E7 seemed to be more of a character-driven series than a thrilling narrative, so with the characters in this being 90% more tolerable than their predecessors, I’m hoping that we get more of them and less of the “Japan and America are fucking around somewhere in here” if it wants to get it’s audience immersed
