Cidz Weekly Anime: Polar Bear Cafe, Sankarea, and PoyoPoyo
May 4, 2012 in Currently Blogging Anime, PoyoPoyo, Sankarea, Shiro Kuma Cafe
So except for Kuroko no Basket, that I’m co-blogging I decided that I’m going to try something different this week, and if people like it, I might keep it up. I’m going to group the shows I’m blogging into 1 blog, cut out the recap and not really add that many pictures, it’ll mostly be opinion. So please let me know if you prefer this, or my usual eposidic blogs, or perhaps something different?
Series covered this week: Polar Bear Cafe (ep. 3 and 4), Sankarea (Ep. 3 and 4), and PoyoPoyo (Ep. 11-17)
Polar Bear Cafe:
And so we get another episode with the Anteater, in fact except for ep. 4 (and maybe 5 i dunno i havent seen that yet) we’ve gotten to see the anteater each time. I’m very pleased by this but even more pleased that he spoke and had his little scene! I totally wanna feed my stuffed anteaters ramen now!! I bet it would be so very cute. ^_^ I’m also glad that I got my bf to enjoy this series as well (haha in fact he kept listening to the OP yesterday while we were looking up recipes on how to cook leopard shark) So it’s even more fun to watch this with someone IRL. Plus, it’s always nice to get people to watch something I really enjoy. Not many people really watch the shows I do
. Anywhoo, I liked how they split up each ep. into two mini episodes or so it seems haha. In ep. 3 I thought it was cute how everyone got a smart phone (or sumafo?) But that poor penguin couldnt use the slide and zoom feature T_T. It was cute at the end too when the polar bear made Panda a little panda cover out of paper <3. Also kinda makes me wonder are smart phones a new thing in Japan? That place is known for its super advanced technology right? But come to think of it, i havent really seen many smart phones in animes (not even brand new ones) are they just not as common in japan are they are here? Anywhoo, I also liked the little part where they went driving, its not often you see them outside the cafe except for maybe the zoo where Panda worked. It was fun to see them go on a roadtrip so that Penguin can learn Polar bear’s driving techniques to impress Penkko with.
Sankarea:
And so we finally get Zombie Rea. And I gotta say shes just as cute as a zombie as she was as a human. She even sewed up her own scar how moe! For some strange reason though, before Rea died I thought her dad was a disciplable creeep, but now….I just cant help but crack up. I dunno why. I just think his expressions for seeing his daughter die was hallerious. I thought it was hallerious how he freaks over cats. I thought it was really hallerious how he stood up in the bathtub and declared Furuya the evils of all evils that stole his precious daughter away. Really, creepy pedo child molester father aside, hes kinda….hallerious. But anyway, so this series so far is pretty good. We still get a bit of fanservice with the moms really bouncey tits O_o (goodness woman wear a bra!) and of course the cousin (who cock-blocked him when him and Rea were about to kiss.) But we also get a bit of srsbsns with Rea actually rotting away, at the end of ep. 4 she had already started riga mortis, and if her body keeps this up within a month or so she’ll become a skeleton. Interesting thing is, she doesnt seem to feel anything at all. I use to think “no wonder zombies are the way they are must suck rotting away and feeling that pain” but i guess they don’t feel anything, at least in this one they dont.
Still, I wonder why her body is rotting away but not Baba’s? I wonder if it has to do with eating those hydranea (is that it?) leaves? Because they were used in the potion, and I remember Baba going over to that area and munching on the leaves. Or maybe he eats brains, maybe thats why zombies eat brains to slow down the rotting? But that doesn’t make sense if that were the case then wouldnt there be less rotting zombies? It seems most every zombie looks decayed. Ah but this is a different zombie story, so perhaps things will be different. But really my guess is she has to eat the Hydranea leaves or maybe take that potion every so often to keep from rotting.
Also I wonder who that lady was that the grandpa thought Rea was? his wife? Did he also try to resurrect someone and failed? That would be intersting lol.
PoyoPoyo:
So I finally got around to catching up on PoyoPoyo. The nice thing about this show is that its like 3 mins long, so it takes me hardly anytime to catch up on like 5-7 eps. Thats why sometimes I let these shorter series pile up then watch a bunch at a time. Anyway, PoyoPoyo didn’t end and it’s still going, not sure how long it’ll be but I still really enjoy it. I love the little interactions with the family and the cat. I also love to see the reactions to people meeting PoyoPoyo for the first time. I also think PoyoPoyo is awesome especially when he turns into Super Poyo at the end of ep. 17 hahaha. NO joke! He really does he jumps up to a tree and saves a kitten!
I like the side chars too thier ammusing like the new lady that moved in that hates animals but now poor poyo is more scared of her then she is of him XD Also it seems that the brother is warming up to Poyo, hes not so tsuntsun anymore. <3 before you know it he’ll be as deredere for Poyo as the dad and Moe are!

Yes, the driving episode was great, especially when they went through the drive-thru a bunch of times!
I’m digging the new format. Definitely seems like something I would want to try soon.
Yeah it was so cute. HAHA i wanna do that now >_> <_<
thanks. i like it as well it was so much easier for me to get these blogs out. However if ppl prefer the way i was doing it before I can go back.
I would of liked to add more pics though so maybe i can kinda combine adding more screenshots with just doing my opinions in a group blog? guess i’ll see how this one does.
I like the polar bear! It’s soooo cute!!!!! :D
