#2: Activities of the Esteemed Classics Club

Last week, I forgot to mention the studio behind Hyouka. KyoAni. Yes, the people behind Haruhi and K-ON!. With that out of the way, back to what really matters in all of this, more adventures of the Classics Club and it’s members. This week, we get another character added into the mix of things. And yes, the animation is great.

First off, sorry for the lateness. Tonight, WordPress decided to work again, and, God, did it. It’s never been this smooth. One can wonder what someone like Oreki is thinking as he gets up and recalls the letter that his sister sent him. He’s definitely not out of that gray phase, yet, but perhaps by the end of the series, he’ll have changed? Only time will tell. Speaking of time, a month has passed since last episode, and the club has gotten, well, nowhere. But Chitanda want some club activities to be done, such as an anthology for the cultural festival. At the library, we meet Ibara, who went to the same middle school as Oreki and Fukube. She apparently has a crush on Fukube. Anyway, after our little introduction scene between Ibara and everyone, Ibara asks if Oreki wants to use his head. Of course not, but you know, Chitanda is really curious, so here we go. It is the sad tale of a book that’s been checked out five weeks in a row and returned the exact day it was checked out. Oreki shows no interest, but the prying Chitanda insists. It’s a waste of energy to refuse further, so the mystery is accepted.

Attempts to find an answer to the mystery are given, but there’n to really anything being solved here. That is, until Oreki gets an idea and tries to send Chitanda off to go alone. Not gonna work, so long as she’s wanting him to go, and Fukube’s got anything to say about it. Oreki’s gotta be losing all of his patience here. And not only that. Ibara’s tagging along, too. The deductions lead them to perhaps a gym or art class. It turns out to be an art class. Chitanda had smelled the scent of paint thinner on the book, and it turns out that it was being used as a basis to paint a book onto portraits in a combined art class, hence why girls from different classes were the ones to check it out from the library. Also, that scene where Chitanda was a maid… is there going to be a new deal with her each week? Like last week is was the hair, this week it’s the maid. And I’ve gotta hand it to KyoAni. Some of the scenes in this show kinda remind me of Bakemonogatari. Afterwords, of course, there’s still no information on an anthology of the Classics Club. In fact, there is no anthology in the archives, or so the librarian says. And we get some cryptic thing from Chitanda. Just what is Oreki capable of? Well, the next day, Sunday, Oreki gets called out to a cafe by Chitanda for, a confession?! Not to mention, that’s a pretty peaceful ED we have here.
