It’s a little sad, don’t you think?
May 19, 2012 in Rants
Our viewership has gone down badly ever since the ABT fiasco.
Ever since that incident (that so-called vote manipulation we got accused of), our viewership has steadily gone down, starting on April 21st. As of today, it’s at an all time low. It’s like we’re going back to the days when we were first just getting started.
I mean, it definitely adds up.
Apparently moving on is “The right thing to do” according to the ani-blogsphere, but being shunned isn’t making it easy to do so.
This is a clear case of us being shunned, no matter how you look at it.

Not Spiral, it’s SPIRAL.
On the other side of things, I cannot explain the viewership cutdown to 50%.
I don’t know if you can just attribute the drop solely to being shunned. After April 21st, I know I was working on final projects and papers, and then following that was final exams and graduation. With most of us in college or around college age, I think that final stretch had more to do with it than anything else.
I’m one of the viewers that came with ABT. I don’t know how your viewership has been pre-tourney (it could just be people who came through the tourney leaving, marking the end of a tourney-related spike), but if you’re declining significantly below your usual Feb/March levels, you shouldn’t blame it on the tourney – that’s making excuses. If someone decided to drop you from their rss because of the diqualification, they’d have done so when the thing happened and never looked back, which would’ve led to a sharp decrease immediately after the event and no aftereffects. There’s no reason tourney-related reason for viewers to keep dissipating weeks after the fact.
“Shunned”? How many people do you think even care enough about that popularity contest to do that?
And really, you aren’t moving on. I had almost forgotten the incident (read: would only recall if asked specifically about mishaps), and never did care which blog was involved, yet here is a post about it. This is a situation where keeping quiet is better.
yeah, well, I never claimed to move on to begin with
.
And no, i don’t feel i’m making excuses one bit. You’re trying to reason saying that this decline in viewership is just a goddamn coincidence, and I don’t think it is.
We got disqualified on the 21st, and it all went downhill from there. =\
You’re just saying that because you yourself want to defend the ABT, or perhaps, just defend yourself. Or maybe you’re just a hater and only throws in his 2cents whenever a post like this comes up.
I admit that I don’t often stopped by but that is due to the episodic posts (since I’m way behind the episodes, I avoid getting spoiled) and has nothing to do with the ABT. As far as I’m concern, ABT has no credibility at all but I won’t dismissed the possibility that it might be due to ABT that your readership is declining.
Which is sad really.
We’ve been trying to branch away from the episodics little by little, ya know?
This happened to me once, my views took a giant dive. You just gotta ride it out and they come back eventually….like after a year maybe.
I doubt you got DQ’d from some retarded Popularity contest…
Uh, I’m still here.
So you are.
Guess you either weren’t ABT, or i dunno.
But i’m glad.
I’m still here.
Well, you’re not part of the ani-blogsphere!
…
I think.
well to be honest i dont think its SOLEY due ONLY to that tourney thing but i wont deny that it prolly did cause us a few viewerships who knows.
but either way i think mdogg has a point exams and finals and graduations and wutnot did start around that time as well sooo maybe not many ppl came by. lets see how things go during the summer shall we?
but perhaps may i suggest a blog asking ppl wut they would like to see of CSW? that could help boost our viewers some. or ask them wut they like and dont like. i know! why not make a questionaire or a survey? i can even help you with that if you like. its good to get feedback once in awhile to know how we’re doing in the public eye and to help improve ourselves.
The funny thing is that ABT had to delay Round 3 because there were more cases of “vote manipulation” this time with someone admitting to making the appropriately-named Whiners win to prove a point that Polldaddy can be rigged by just about anyone with the resources to do it. There’s probably already multiple cases of manipulation that hasn’t been publicized considering that there are Round 3 blogs which have been dead for a while.
This whole tournament is a crock of shit and those running it are too irresponsible to do anything but point fingers, and people are sheepish enough to take their word on it when they don’t even have a clear idea of what is happening. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the motherfuckers on their comment section rigged our poll to screw us over and laugh at the wreckage.
Of course, I do point some of the blame on SPIRAL’s reactions to being accused. This could’ve been handled in a calm and civil manner and we could’ve been able to negotiate with ABT to tell them that we did nothing, but then you guys blew the fuck up and now all that everyone talks about when mentioning CSW is how we’re going to raid & spam other blogs. It makes us look bad and throws all our work down the shitter because of some dumb fucking popularity contest.
Sheeeesh…
Well, I admit, it was too far when Spiral threatened to spam other blogs. >_>
But like, I stand by every word i said that day. It wasn’t out of anger, i clearly stand by it.
I mean, even i have moments when i say shit i don’t mean out of anger, but that day, I meant every word.
One thing’s for sure, I know we ain’t participating next time. It’s too stupid, and it’s not worth it if the likes of Mefloraine, Scamp, and whoever else are running it.
Now that school’s out, it’s easier to keep up with everything. Don’t know all the details as to what happened, but for me, I follow CSW to get some of that same hilarity and knowledge that I did from the [as] boards, and not much can change that. For anyone else though, yeah shit can look bad, but we’re all human. In the end, you can only do what you’ve been doing and hope that people realize what you’re all about (which is being awesome).
The only reason I am still here, despite the slow site, the slow postings and the DRAMA that has plagued the site at times is because of the ASMB connection. It’s like, this is where I belong.
Exactly!
this has been a distant memory only to recalled on days like this. so i don’t understand a single thing about popular blog voting that i so happened to missed during the past couple of months.
Indeed. To think that a blog popularity contest would matter to anyone other than those who actually are a part of the contest boggles the mind.
What I don’t get it why are you complaining about being shunned to a bunch of people who are obviously not shunning you. I mean… people who are shunning the site are not going to see it… so what’s the point? I’m thinking this is probably about a few things at once. Darkking has a point with finals… and Chaps has a point with SPIRAL’s reaction (though his rant was so moe it was hard not to squee while I read it ^_^ )… also Musey I adore you
3 Anyway… maybe if we get our shit together and make the site better and let by gones be by gones then we can bring readers in again. I like Cidz idea about the survey. Also… I’m sure it would be good for me to contribute again >_> Having said all that… i think we should do what the corporate world does and use a buzz line like “Moving forward” and do things to get our readers back! ^_^
<3 Hehe!
