Jormungand 6: I BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN

May 17, 2012 in Jormungand

In the newest ep of Jormungand, everyone finally gets to Africa where Koko has to appear at a Weapons Expo as well as meet up with the eccentric Dr. Miami. However, when Miami wants to ditch it to go on a hike to a butterfly sanctuary, will there be a retaliation from Daixinghai company or will Koko be able to track her down before them? Hurry boy, this post is waiting there for you.

It starts on a kickass note as Koko and her crew fend off against pirates with all of the firepower they’ve got. This is further emphasized as during this fight, they play the full version of the “Her name is Koko, She is Loco” song.

Only Koko has been able to devour her own subtitles

Seeing as they are packing major heat, the only pirate that they were able to catch was a boy that Jonah spared and captured. Koko decides to be kind that day and frightens him off the ship. In return, she throws down a lifesaver and tells him to swim to shore with it.

"Jonah, you're next!"

On Scarecrow’s front, he’s trying to get behind the Diixinghai company, starting with grilling Mr. Chang and his assistant Karen about him being an arms dealer. As Scarecrow is getting pummeled in the conversation, a phonecall comes in to distract him and leads him to take it outside the room.

Yeah man, our comedians that aren't deadpan are shit

He still has questions about their relationship with Kaspar though, so he has a PMC guarding the door so they can’t walk out on him. Unfortunately for Mr. PMC, Karen knows how to fight so she pummels the shit out of him and walks out the door as Scarecrow finds the knocked out PMC and shakes his fist at the sky in defeat once again.

Coincidentally, there's more lady fanart in the Pixiv R-18 Jormungand section lately

Somewhere else in the world, we meet one of the most amusing characters on the show yet, an eccentric Japanese robotics specialist Amada Minami who goes by the nickname “Doctor Miami” .

She is heavily in love with butterflies to the point where her appointment with Koko she scheduled a year ago is being delayed for a hiking trip to a butterfly sanctuary. Her bread & butter is creating robotic weapons that would help the butterfly population by lowering the human population.

She better be in this series more often :3

Before they get on shore in Africa, Valmet wants to brush up on knife fighting with Jonah, probably because of all the unrevealed history Valmet has with Africa. She promptly owns him with the rubber knife as they go off into the showers before going on land.

And on that day, Jonah saw mountains that make Mt. Kilimanjaro look like a mosquito bite

Koko is waiting in front of a West African village for Miami but instead she gets Marine, a messenger who informs Koko that Doctor Miami has skipped out in favor of her expedition for butterflies. However, with this she also gets a good amount of information from Marine involving the Doctor dealing with Mr. Chang and Karen as well as the GPS route for Doctor Miami’s whereabouts.

I seriously love all the ladies in this series, no joke

There is another point to going to West Africa as there is a Weapons Expo that Koko takes Jonah to so that they could survey their findings. Mr. Currie, the British arms dealer who was in the 2nd episode, is not impressed though as many of the displayed weapons are just modifications of pre-existing ones.

"The replica of the Star Trek phasers aren't even authentic. Just a plastic Star Wars gun spray-painted silver"

However, Koko ends up stumbling upon Mr. Chang who has been eager to meet Koko for the longest time to discuss their trade. Koko hopes to bond over a 5 star Chinese meal but Mr. Chang leaves as she decides to go meet him while the others go out on a mission.

If he owns it and his first name is P.F., you're in for some oversalted disappointment

The guys and girls of Koko’s crew are in for some lucky times as they have to go and find Doctor Miami and kill anyone who is hoping to get rid of her before they can conduct business.

While Doctor Miami goes out on her expedition with her AK-47 toting assistant, Karen and her team are looking to hunt and kill both Koko’s crew and Doctor Miami to get payback for what Kaspar did to her subordinates. However, they really screw the pooch when one of the guys decides to give away their position to Koko’s crew after Jonah lured them out with spraying bullets. This pisses Karen off badly as she personally kills her guy that gave away their position, claiming that they’re on Kaspar’s side.

That'd be pretty pointless. What would he say? "I'm sorry for giving away my team's position and costing none of your lives"?

But Valmet is close to flipping a shit when she sees Karen again as she was the one in Africa who caused her misery years ago. The episode ends as we see an entirely new side to Valmet with a smile that could rival Koko’s in terms of batshit crazy.

Oh shit...

Overall, it’s cool that they’re setting up some neat stories with all of the different side characters such as the introduction of Doctor Miami and Karen as well as more emphasis on going into Valmet’s past. Koko’s scenes were fun to watch as well with her commanding the well-done fight sequence with the pirates and leading Jonah around the Weapons Expo. The whole cast is very entertaining, though I’m not a fan of Scarecrow who just seems to exist to look arrogant and make the other characters look cooler than him (I’d say it’s mostly satire of the American machismo stereotypes but we already got tons of Americans on Koko’s team such as Lehm, Wille Nelson, and Lutz who aren’t wrapped up in their cultural identity so it seems a bit odd), but with that I’d say it provided a good intro to Mr. Chang and Karen as the Daixinghai company that Kaspar mentioned in the last episode. While it is still the beginning of this arc (this episode being the 1st part of the Butterfly story), it’s looking to be an awesome arc so far.

The more the merrier I say
