My Thoughts on the “New” Adult Swim/Toonami Shows
May 21, 2012 in News, Wordpress Can Eat A Bag Of Dicks
For those of you who don’t know, the Adult Swim website has two new shows listed for its zombie Toonami block that starts this Saturday.
The shows are…..
And:
Overall, I am excited. While I have seen Deadman Wonderland, and honestly didn’t enjoy it -that- much, I wouldn’t mind watching it again for the super hawt warden chick.
There were some other characters that were pretty good, even if they were underused. I have heard that the manga is better than the anime, so maybe I’ll pick that up if my rewatch makes me want to know more.
I would recommend Deadman Wonderland if you enjoyed The Shawshank Redemption, but thought it would be cooler if the characters fought each other using their blood as weapons like the guy from Speed Grapher.
Also, Crow is a BAMF.
I have not seen Casshern Sins yet, but I have heard good things about it. From what I understand, it is about a robot in a post-terminator world that travels around trying to figure out if he is the one who killed John Conner or not. It is based off of an anime made in the 70′s, and there is also a live action movie out there somewhere. I am a big fan of sci-fi in general, and always enjoy post-apocalyptic stuff, so I definitely will be checking out Casshern Sins if it truly does air on Adult Swim.
The reason I say “truly” is that Adult Swim is known for trolling its audience, and the powers that be did say that the schedule would be kept secret until Saturday, there there is a chance that this schedule is a troll. However, I do think that there are worse shows that could be put on the revived Toonami block, and would welcome Casshern Sins and Deadman Wonderland to my television screen.
Deaman Wonderland starts at 12:30 am EST and Casshern Sins starts at 1:00 am EST on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
I hope to see you there.

I got into the manga for DW and the anime pretty much goes through most of the stuff in there except they cut out the old blind guy Condor, the transexual announcer Chaplin, Azami whose is replaced with Yo in her locker room scene, and all of the awesome lines like “FUCK YOU! That’s my rule!” and “I’ll kill you, cut you up, and cum in your formaldehyde”. They also cut it off before the real shit starts to go down and it becomes absolute chaos there.
Aside from that, I’m really hoping that they’re going to have some classics and that it’s not just Toonami by name when it’s the same stagnant lineup with replacements for Kekkaishi & Durarara.
oooooooh awesome! deadman wonderland <3 of course ive seen that i blogged it :P
but i havent seen cashier sins so im curious about that! either way sounds like a good lineup so far WHEEE.
but im suprised about deadman wonderland thought that be too violent for em.
edit: also someone (forgot his name demarco?) said that he was going to start droping hints or like talking about the schedule starting monday. so it is possible that we really did get these two shows but perhaps more is on its way?
Deadman Wonderland seems like typical American entertainment to me. I didn’t enjoy it when it was aired, it was too ridiculous and quite dumb, but considering how many see “gore” and “quality” as the same thing, it’s not a shabby choice.
Casshern Sins is great, it even got my completionist self to watch the older version too. Definitely give it a chance when it’s airing.
It might be just me, but the second image isn’t working. It gives a zerochan error message instead.
Wow. This is news to me.
Ugh. I hated Deadman Wonderland. For the most part, though, people will probably like it.
As for Casshern Sins, Moribito, unfortunately, was seen as too boring and slow for the audience, if we’re going by the reaction on the boards. I fear Casshern will suffer the same. Decent anime, IMO. The visuals are nice.
Also, I got this story out before ANN, so they can blow me.
CSW>ANN
I think I remember seeing a DVD of live-action Casshern at ACen earlier this year. Has anyone seen it yet; Is it any good?
I’ve never seen Deadman, so this is pretty exciting…
As for Casshern, I dropped it at episode 7, but only because I had way too many shows, and I never could get back to it. I personally like it, but it’s a little on the slow side. The animation is slick, though… returning it to plan to watch, lol.
I’ve never seen Casshern Sins….seems like a good time to start though!
Whoo hoo! I am so excited to continue Casshern Sins again, though it’ll take at least 10 weeks. Maybe I should just go ahead and finish it once Spring Season ends.
I never saw Deadman Wonderland and heard the ending was disappointing, but I am excited nonetheless.
i wouldnt necessarily say the ending to DW was dissapointing it was just….open. like the type of ending ud give a series when u expect it to have a 2nd seas. or something.
i mean im kinda dissapointed they showed a badass char towardds the end we didnt get to see much of. but hey thats wut the mangas for lol. which i still need to read ona these days
