Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine Episode 12
Or Cowboy Bebop Session 20.
Anime really knows how to make Amusement Parks scary.
But this one had gunfights on roller coasters!
I only just realized that everyone is on a full name basis with each other in this series. I sure do miss the days of the original series with Fujicakes, Pops and LOOPAWN!
This episode, while trippy, did not disappoint me this time. It had enough action and gags to balance out the weird psychological shit. The best part is seeing Fujiko get back on her feet rather than decay into a wallowing pool of angst.
Well, at least not completely.Zenigata and Fujiko team up together to find out more about Fujiko’s mysterious past and find out what the fuck happened to Oscar, seeing as his body wasn’t found in the river. It’s good to see that Zenigata actually cares about him despite him being a complete nutcase.
So Fujiko and Zenigata end up in some crazy deserted owl themed Amusement Park. Like I said before, this episode reminded me of the “Pierrot Le Fou” episode of Cowboy Bebop, only with epic gunfights on roller coasters. Yeah, Lupin and Jigen decide to investigate this matter too.
I am enjoying the amount of scenes with Lupin in his underwear, by the way. <_<Yeah. I wouldn’t want to get on that crazy ride.
Fujiko shoots up the place, horrified at the sight of robot lolis getting hacked into pieces.
Jigen and Lupin end up at the Amusement park as well, ready to ride the crazy rides and eat some ice cream.Honestly, Lupin. Why would you think that was a good idea?
Lupin tells Jigen about how the Owl Count hired him to steal Fujiko, but upon closer investigation, Lupin learns that Fujiko is just some charming thief who had her life stolen from her by a bunch of stinkin’ owls. Jigen states that this has nothing to do with him, but Lupin corrects him, saying that they’ve already become recurring characters in her story.
The epic roller coaster gunfight begins, with the odds in the owls’ favor, but Lupin and Jigen manage to keep their heads up and shoot back and avoid bullets.
Welp, that’s today!
While Jigen and Lupin manage to get themselves out of this jam, Zenigata and Fujiko end up in another room of fake Fujikos, but this time they aren’t robots!
And one of them isn’t even a woman!Well, make that two. Goemon manages to get himself out of trouble, thanks to his iron cutting sword. With that, he slices up the Amusement Park machines, cutting off the electricity.
The last minute and a half of this episode features the opening theme song as Fujiko advances on to the castle at the top of the amusement park. The old Count himself awaits her, and Fujiko refers to him as Papa.
Damn this show is creepy.
But I love it.
Last episode is next week. I’m expecting a good resolution to everything. If we’re lucky, this show will be my favorite of the season, but it’s pretty hard to compete with Apollon, Tsuritama and Space Brothers.
