#11: End Credits of the Fool
Hyouka’s back again this week to hopefully finish off this movie mystery once and for all. Perhaps Oreki has screwed up the whole movie by ignoring Tomohiro’s rope. Perhaps this mystery is bigger than any of us could have imagined. All I know, is that I want to see how this all plays out, so let’s get started.
Just to be on the safe side here, I’m gonna go ahead and warn that some of the screencaps might be a bit weird, since Mazui’s subs always have crappy video on VLC for some reason. Would’ve got this post out days ago if Commie subbed it. Obviously there’s problems with the script of the movie, as Ibara, Chitanda, and even Fukube all point out to Oreki that it may not have been what Hongou was going for. In defense of Oreki, how was he supposed to know? I honestly think that if Fukube knew there were no tricks like that in Holmes, then he should have told Oreki, but that’s beside the point here. The movie was all wrong. However, it was still very good, but it was wrong because it wasn’t want Hongou was going for. In all of this, why didn’t she just ask Eba? Please let us find out. Oreki is distracted by all of this, so he decides to see if the Tarot assignments he and the others got matched up to their personality. He wonders if he really is Strength, but he figures he’s not being controlled by Chitanda, Irisu, or even his own sister. Maybe he is Strength, though. He ponders this, and later on, he needs to speak with Irisu.
So Oreki confronts Irisu. It turns out that Hongou was ignored the entire time. She wrote the script, but it didn’t match up to the movie. There wasn’t supposed to be a death in the movie. This was evidenced by Hongou’s own vote in the poll. Basically, everyone was coming up with these obscure theories, and only the best could be chosen. Oreki deduces that Irisu only cares about the results of something, and that her words last episode about people with talents, were wasted, and lies. I think this is the first time we’ve ever seen Oreki get so seriously pissed that he yelled at someone like that. Irisu still says that’s not what she thinks, and Oreki can believe it’s a lie if he wants, but I think he was being manipulated, along with everyone else tangled in this mystery. Well, it looks like Irisu was IM’ing with someone, trying to tell her that she couldn’t allow the project to fail. Interesting… this show certainly tries to be mysterious. Oreki and Chitanda discuss the mystery, and how it was probably Kounsou that cut Kaito and he went to lock himself in the room. But how could he forgive her afterwards? They decide they’ll never know unless Hongou tells them herself. It looks like Chitanda’s like Hongou a little, not liking stories where the characters die. From their point of view, perhaps the whole movie was just a little wrong.
Next: Practically Piled to the Ceiling

Really enjoyed the conclusion to this arc. It’s not often that you see a male lead character get pissed off when they’re being manipulated. It’s even rarer to see them in a struggle to change their perspective on life. Looking forward to the next episode, though I think there will be a webstream for a special episode or something as well.
Yeah I thought it was really well done. =)
Yeah it says episode 11.5 is going to pre-air on USTREAM and it’s a fanservice episode that’ll be released with the 3rd volume of the manga next January.
