Console Gaming vs PC Gaming
I’m quite surprised since M never made a post about this considering the discussion we had going in this thread of the [as] forums.
I’m also a Console guy and the only PC games I ever play are the ones that are provided with Windows. How awesome am I eh??
Though there’s the advantage of Emulators, which Seineme and Jesus159159 and I were talking about in a jokingly fashion on Clitter Twitter.
Consoles and their Pros and Cons.
- Pros
- The games run at full speed 90% of the time
- No need to worry about buying a buncha parts for the PC to play games at their fullest
- Easy-to-learn controls IMO
- BIG SCREEN. FUCK YES.
- The variety of games is much bigger.
- Easily approachable.
- Cons
- Games and Consoles in general are capable of destroying whatever is in your wallet with their prices
- Having to deal with the Gamestop Clerks. Seriously, I find these whores annoying when they try to talk you spending more money than you intend.
- the potential to make you destroy your controller or throw it at the TV in a rage. Yes, I’ve seen it happen.
- A new generation keeps coming out every few years.
Pros and Cons of PC gaming
- Pros
- PCs built for gaming are the fastest. Or so i’ve heard.
- you never have to change controllers. Keyboard and Mouse forever!
- Tons of MMORPGs. Of course, it’s only natural to join in with fellow nerds and kill monsters. Just like the .//Hack series.
- EMULATORS. Most Important. Gotta love’em ya?
- EROGE. Yes, they count.
- Cons
- PC knowledge required. Yeah, By this, i mean the knowledge to put video cards and better processors into your machine. In a sense, you have to practically build a gaming pc, or in other words, turn your PC or Mac into a gaming machine.
- Even more money to be spent. Yes, to buy these parts costs a lot of money and it’ll probably cost even more to have a professional do it for you if you don’t know what you’re doing.
- Depending on the game, controls are much harder to master with a Mouse and keyboard, although there are Controllers for PC that can remedy that.
That’s all i can think of, and that’s just my two cents. Feel free to disagree or say i’m totally wrong on these things.
Hence, why I decided to raise the question with you guys and get some random opionions. What’s better? VOTE NAO*points at Poll*

It depends on the game for me. For example, FPSes I prefer on the PC by far. I can’t understand people who like playing it on a console. The controls are so much slower and less precise, IMO.
On the flip side, any sport game is always better on a console. Hands down.

I’ve always liked playing FPS’s on a console on my end. Simply because consoles are what got me into them in the first place. Now, i won’t disapprove of the possibility of FPS’s actually working better on a PC. In fact, If i ever get the chance, i’d try it out if i had more munny. >.>

You have no idea how much I want to rip up this post of yours.

I also did it to test and see if the same thing that happened to Megan’s post would happen to my post.
And it Didn’t. So i used that basis to go fix Megan’s post. Which i did successfully.
Also, You shoulda did it when we had the discussion going you jerk >=(
AAAAAAAAAAAND. Feel free to rip it up, I dun care atm. >.>

Ironically, the reason I won’t rip it up is because I’m too busy playing Modern Warfare 2.

Personally, I think the only console right now that is worth it for the money is the PS3, and that’s only because it’s also a BluRay player.
You say that computers are super expensive, but that’s not really true. In fact, the system I have now is one that I’ve had for nearly five years now. I bought it originally as a barebones system at Fry’s for $200.
That came with my current case and power supply.
Two years ago I upgraded the motherboard and processor for $115. Just a few months ago I upgraded my RAM from DD2 2 GB to DDR3 4 GB for about $75 (special on-sale price from Crucial’s website), and two weeks ago I bought a new graphics card GeForce 9400 GS for about $60.
That’s all I’ve spent on my gaming rig. I got a 21 inch LCD monitor for Xmas two years ago which was like $125, but other than that I bought everything myself.
Total current price I spent: $450
It’s not a super high-end rig, but I can play all the games I want to (L4D2, Borderlands, etc) on near-highest video settings.

< .< Consoles for sure.
*hates PC gaming*
Except Battlefront, but I have that for Mac. >.>

I’m a console gamer, though I tend to favor my DS over everything. I bring it everywhere with me. Plus, games are less expensive on the DS.
Um…I tried the Bioshock and Crysis demos on my computer once. LOL, it pretty much almost blew up. I can only run them on the lowest settings thanks to my crappy graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7100. >_>
I am playing Braid on my PC, though. Fun, yet frustrating game.

See, I can understand the coolness of portable gaming. I still lug around my grey Gameboy brick to play Tetris/Metroid every now and then.
Also, trust me in that if any console (except maybe PS3) tried to run Crysis on anything other than the lowest settings that it would probably almost blow up as well. That’s a very resource-demanding game.

I think thats my biggest beef with computer gaming…it has the superior graphics and everything…but then you need a superior PC which I’ve never had. as for the Consoles it’ll run any game excellently regardless.
I never understood that.
Pretty much all households are going to have a computer anyway.
By buying a console (a whole $300), isn’t that just redundant?
The problem is most Americans buy stock computers from Best Buy instead of either building it themselves or ordering a customized PC off the net (generally cheaper than Best Buy!)
I say consoles are far more expensive because if you already have a computer, why not make it a gaming computer? They’re not all that expensive compared to consoles. That’s just lies that console fanboys make up because they don’t know better.

we can do polls on here? =O

yah, but you gotta ask me about it. The polls is under the Admin rule. Hopefully i can fix it so everyone can use polls…

I bought a 300 dollar computer once…it couldn’t run anything near the caliber my $250 360 can run. So…I call massive BS on that.
You probably bought it stock, lol.
Oh well, sad to see a generation rise out of sheer ignorance, but hey, that’s how lots of societal trends work.

i’ll prolly get laughed and told to “gtfo n00b” but watevz… uhmm.. i dont really have a say but i guess i’ll go with consols cuz thats all i ever played.
and theres more consol games i like then PC. like it seems all PC has going for it is FPS and MMO games neither of which interest me in the least. tho i do own a few racing games for the PC. i even bought a steering wheel and paddle once those were kind of fun to play… (and laugh but it was also a lame makeshift way to try and teach myself how to drive >___> oh shaddap! better i play pretend practice driving in my room then out on the streets where id prolly run over a cat and an old lady at the same time or something O_o) anyways…. ya consol games have RPGs and i rly like those also cute games.
plus keyboard and mouse seem hard to use for me cuz im retarded O_o actually its cuz i never practiced with that stuff.
oh and DS and gameboys are awesome! i love portable game systems! im always stealing me bfs PSP and playing on it XD i just wish PSP would have FF6 to DL =( no matter i found my PS1 plug so i can go back to playing that.
oh guess you can add that in as another pro to PCs you dont gotta worry about loosing no parts. like with consols if you loose your plug, or memory card, or heck even the consol your kindasorta screwed… but with PCs everythings there! all youd need was the game.
oh and that whole consols have bigger screens thing is kindasora invalid.. thers can be alotta expections to that.
whelp i rambled on too much not like anyone cares about a newbz opinion anyways i should be in bed anyways! >___>

I play flash games over the internet.

also megan the gaming library for consoles is far…far greater and more diverse…consoles get the games i wanna play…computers focus too much on MMOs and what not now…its a diverging of interests, not ignorance…but call it that if you must to protect yer “dying breed” =P

Action
Adventure
Family
Strategy
MMO
RPG
Casual
Independent
Racing
Sports
Simulation
“gaming library is far greater”?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha.
Steam alone has 2061 available game downloads for PC. I don’t even think that number has been reached by any new generation console. Nope. Just checked, Xbox 360 has 763 games released currently, PS3 has 557 games released currently.
I suppose they do say “ignorance is bliss” though.

And believe me, those 2061 games aren’t all MMO’s. The RPG itself was started on the computer (hello Ultima!) and there are plenty of RPGs for the computer, like the recent Dragon Age: Origins by Bioware. There are also FPS, RTS, Adventure (I love the Monkey Island games), Puzzle, Simulation, Hack ‘n Slash, and don’t forget all the old console games you can play with an emulator.

alright…I’ll give you that part of the post…but unless you can refute the next two parts…eat shit =P
PC’s don’t have. Ratchet and Clank. PC’s don’t have Legend of Zelda. PC’s don’t have Super Smash Brothers. PC’s don’t have good versions of sports games. PC’s don’t have Final Fantasy XII…etc. So until PC’s gets those games, ya know, the ones i wanna play. And the type of PC required to run those kind of games is only 250 bucks, I see no reason to bother with computer gaming…nor could i disagree more with its “superiority”.

EEEEEE the kimi ni todoke thread i made in 4chan is a hit EEEEE MORE PICS FOR ME EEEEE!!!!
oh and uhmm.. YOU FORGOT THAT COMPZ DUN GOTS KIRBY!!! how dare you leave kirby out!
oh and also DLing games is all well and good but if your computer crashes your kindasorta screwd cuz then you lost alla those games you DLd. so that whole list you gave doesnt do much good =( course consols now-a-days you download your games as well. so if your consol or computer or watever breaks guess your kinda screwd with that too?
dont you kids ever still buy the actual game? or no? i dunno.. im gonna go back to playing FF6 which im stuck on! T___T
about 9 months ago
OH SHI- You’re playing FF6 again?! I’ll talk to you on MAL. =)
Don’t go to 4chan, ciddy. It’s a scary place. At first, everyone’s posting nice pictures of Sawako, and then, before you know it, there’s a picture of Sawako giving blowjobs to three guys at once. Damn you 4chan. DAMN YOU! >_>
about 9 months ago
You kind of walked into that one man. I like making fun of Megan and all…. but it would be just wrong to attack him after that =
about 9 months ago
It’s so much easier to use consoles instead of PC, I agree with Cidz I definitely cannot use a mouse and a keyboard to play games o_o its impossible but i’m not sure, I haven’t actually bought a PC game and played it before xD. both cost a lot of money, only very smart people would know how to turn their computer into a gaming machine LOL I get very scared whenever any type of salesperson approach me, like once they talk to you its too late. they follow, stare and watch over you non-blinking while never shutting their mouths.

Hey, a discussion I can actually join in on and I almost missed it! >_>
I’m on the PC end of things. It’s only been in recent years that I’ve really wanted a console, both because consoles have finally caught up to the capacity that a high-end PC has and, as result, there are more games on consoles that I’d want to play…without having to hassle with my computer’s hardware drawbacks. I’ve been a PC gamer for a long time. My name, Furion, actually comes from the PC game, WarCraft III. I used to be a huge strategy game nerd. ^_^; Even today, I tend to easily get bored with more basic action games, which seem to be the realm of the consoles, and prefer slower paced fare that requires you to think a bit more, like the aforementioned strategy games that I still love, as well as Western RPGs, MMOs, and the like. I’m also kind of partial to the keyboard/mouse set-up, both because I’m used to it and because I like having the option to easily customize my control set-up. Lots more buttons to assign different things! :D That’s why, even though the consoles have begun to branch out and feature more stuff like strategy games and RPGs (the Commander and Conquer series and the Bioware games, like Mass Effect and Dragon Age come to mind) I think I’d still prefer my old computer. Now, if only my old computer could actually run crap like Mass Effect and Dragon Age without a problem.
Anywho, my thoughts on the matter. ^_^; Interestingly, with my vote, the poll is actually 50-50, in regards to which people prefer….
Also, this is my first post here! Woo~! :D
