Shin National Kid: Not a single panel of this manga makes sense
Though that’s probably why this Manga is so intriguing.
This manga has about 19 total stories in this whole Manga… And It’s kinda hard for me to give a proper review to something i couldn’t even begin to comprehend. Do mind, i will not be posting the entire manga. Just bits and pieces for the sake of summarizing. Then again, some stories are really short, while others are really long. But Be warned, this manga is extremely gory. Some of you might love gore. If so, this manga is for you. If you’re not a fan of gore, then I can guarantee that some of it you’ll find funny. The rest of it could kinda scar your mind and/or give you nightmares. But I’ll assume you guys aren’t like me.
Feel free to click the pics for bigger versions of it.
1. Farwell Showa- Basically… it had something to do with these boys here and a baby… i think.
Yeah… Did anyone get what happened in this one? Because I sure as hell didn’t.
2. Electric Ant – This one… seemed to be about some guy and a TV.
Though if there’s anything i learned out reading this part…
This is what happens when you watch too much damn TV. >_<
NEVER AGAIN.
3. Hail Death! – This story is as it says. but it feels like a sequel to Electric ant since we’re seeing the same guy here.
… Uh… >_> Yeah… it seems like stupidness happened back in the day and people died.
4. Farmer No.1 – this one is more of a sexual nature… but if you think this isn’t weird… think again.
If you see the line above the woman’s head, that should scream WEIRD all over. The next image is completely NSFW and a bit disturbing.
NEXT!
5. Snake Boy –
It’s as the title says. Literally. The cover, the title, it pretty much sums up this short story here.
Yeah… he’s a snake boy. Literally. and He eats her. LITERALLY.
…
6,7, & 8. Poison Strawberry 1, 2, and 3 – Poison strawberry is the longest of the stories in this manga. Seriously. However, this one was actually made of awesome despite it not making a lick of sense.
See the bitch on the cover there? these next three panels are about this bitch doing just about anything and everything to anyone and getting away with it. She’s good at what she does. I’ll post many examples of her crimes, which i’m sure will make you wanna check this manga out.
… Yeeeaaaah… >_> if you wanna know if the bitch got any form of Karma, read this manga.
9. 3rd Year High School Student
That picture speaks for itself.
this next pic however, is also NSFW. Because it’s too awesome to show.
>_____>
10. Children’s art Broadcast – This one ain’t for children at all.
…It’s trying to look like Astro Boy now.
Well, i found this part funny… >_>
11. Nagasaki Prefecture Minamitakaki – Gunnishiariechou Jionji – Yeeeaaaah… this story’s only one damn page. I couldn’t comprehend this one.
12. Michael Jackson’s BAD – This is the source of the Michael Jackson Manga. 2 Pages of hilarity, nonsense, and WIN.
Did any of that make any sense? Absolutely not.
Did i actually like any of this? Absolutely.
Is this worth your time? Absolutely.
Is this worth even taking seriously? If you do, You’re just looking for something to give that score of 1 to on MAL.
13. Totally Scary – I skimmed through this one. I tend to not be a big fan of gore. But ah. Did I mention how much gore this manga even has?
In this one, it seems like the boy falls apart. Or probably torn apart. NSFW.
14. Sleeping Man
You’d hope you’d see a story about some super hero or something. Well think again.
This is far from the truth. And no, the below isn’t a fantasy scene.
… Yeah… this one has a ton of gore too.
15. Sojin
I… didn’t understand this story one bit. I doubt you’ll understand it either. But i guess the guy on the cover is a robot.
Yeeeaaaah. A very destructive Robot.
16. The Golden Notebook – This should’ve been the color of the Death Note. but this isn’t Death Note.
When you read this one, you’ll probably think that this is an upgraded Death Note or something. It seemed like that the deaths in a picturebook were actual deaths.
I think.
17. Joy Division – HITLER. Nuff said. Also, this whole story is NSFW. Show ▼
18. Fake Electric Ant- sounds like a sequel to that Electric Ant story, doesn’t it…
![]()
… It’s not. It’s far from it. In fact, it’s just weird. Only thing i comprehended was this guy trying to become an electric ant or whatever.
19. Planet of the Jap – Yeaaaah. This manga wasn’t even translated.
This story pretty much shows what would happen if Japs took over the planet. I think.
….you can pretty much see where this is going.
Aaaaaaaaaaand that’s the end of it. If you wanna download this manga, click this link.
And with that, You know know that the author of this manga, Suehiro Mauro, is either one sick fuck, or a really awesome guy. One or the other. >___>
I didn’t wanna show you guys the whole manga, but reading this again as i made this post made me feel a bit dizzy due to the intense gore of the manga. Though I think the majority of you guys’ll be really interested in reading it, so READ IT.
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN THIS MANGA IN THE LEGAL SENSE.

Only read the first one, so I’ll comment on it. As you probably know, the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa are all names of emperors who rules Japan at certain time periods. They’ve also come to be used to refer to these time periods.
So it’s obvious to me that these three are all wondering when their sibling would be born. In other words, when the next great time period of Japan’s rule would be.
I have to think that the woman/mother represents the USA. In that America is keeping Japan inside through regulation and will not allow its birth as a great Power in the world.

good grief, you actually analyzed it that much?
way to make me feel stupid >.<

Political/social commentary is pretty much what I live on. I visit tons of political forums/blogs where similar symbolism has been used, so I pretty much thought that way immediately as I read it.
So I guess automatic analysis.

With all the graphic gore and subtle meaning hidden behind it, it kind of reminds me a bit of Franken Fran. I’m not sure I could sit down and read this one, however. I’m not squeamish about gore or anything, but I can only take so many dark, surreal stories before I start to get a little…depressed, I guess is the word for it. ^_^; At least Franken Fran had Fran herself to, uh, “brighten” things up a bit. Speaking of which…I should really continue that at some point as well…. >_>
Thanks for sharing some of the manga pages with us, J! It really is an…interesting piece of work. :D

Whelp.
I like Franken Fran.
But this manga here
It’s art is too realistic-looking. Unlike Franken Fran.
Hence, why it’s a bit more… uh, harder for me to look at.

And hence why I probably wouldn’t be able to stomach it for an extended period of time, either. ^_^

Thanks for putting all this up!!! Maruo is OUT THERE. But not without precedent. It’s the politics of transgression right?. Show the brutality of the world and push it to it’s *&^*ing limit. The Marquis De Sade comes to mind. And George Bataille. See his “Story of the Eye” for the souce of erotic de-eyeballing. Maruo is also playing on things called “atrocity prints” which were popular in feudal Japan at some point… don’t really remember, but they depict scenes much like Maruo’s. Beautifully rendered, stage, lit and totally gruesome. I’ve always really enjoyed his moral ambiguities. Planet of the Jap is really interesting. The Japanese are presented as barbaric, yet the tone and message is to be proud of the victory over the Allies. The beheading of Gen. Macarthur (blood thirsty imperialist in his own right) is awesome. “Let him keep his sunglasses on”. Money. I here SM’s a weird guy too, hermitic. But yeah, this survey is great. He doesn’t get enough play state side.
