Welcome to the revolution.
Arguably, 2004 was the turning point of the decade. The start of the golden years and the beginning of a long, slow decline stateside. After this year, nothing would be the same.

Don't lie. You weren't ready for this.
I’ve thought a lot about how I wanted to approach the end of the decade in anime. A Top 10 list, best anime of each year, etc. but what I didn’t realize was I was looking at a much smaller picture. The new millennium’s impact on the anime world was far too massive and far-reaching to condense into a small list that would no doubt resemble incoming lists from other bloggers and online columnists. So why just give you what you’re going to see at least 50 times in the next month? That’s why here we are at the beginning of a month-long retrospect of anime this decade; the shows, the trends, the breakthroughs and the game-changers, both the product, the marketing, the hype, and disappointment. If you don’t remember it yet, you will now.
